Local Teen Makes Movie - Red Carpet Premiere August 21st

Sarah Eichelberger is a moviemaker. She is 14.

But unlike other feature length film directors, Eichelberger didn't have a big budget to work with. Instead, this eighth grade homeschooled student from Romeoville, IL raised her own funds, wrote her own script, and found her own actors.

What resulted was Journey Back Home, an eighty minute production that centers around a young girl who finds the true meaning of family and forgiveness. Set in the 1940's, 12-year-old Annie is thirsty for adventure and discovers it in the most unlikely of places.

It's a film that its creator believes has a strong message.

"I know I am only a teenager, but I believe that young adults are the future of our nation," said Eichelberger, who is also an actress, singer and songwriter who lives at home with her parents and siblings. "I hope that when people watch my movie, they will be inspired to step out and do what they love to do best, no matter what their age."

The film will debut at a red carpet premiere Aug. 21 at 9 a.m. at Hollywood Blvd. Theater in Woodridge. $22 admission includes a ticket for the movie, breakfast, an invitation to a cast signing along with a return pass for two people valued at $16. Tickets must be purchased in advance online from the Premiere page.
